When the matter was investigated on suspicion, it was found that she took advantage of an unclaimed dead body and showed it as that of her husband and submitted a false claim after obtaining a death certificate in connivance with the concerned Government Departments. The fraud was detected after examination of the original signatures of the husband along with the signatures affixed on the LIC application form which were not tallying and when the lady was questioned, she has confessed that because of debts, she prepared a scheme for cheating along with known friends in the concerned departments, she being a tailor having social contacts and acquired knowledge of the system weaknesses.
